Character Study

What are your primary character strengths? Your deepest values? Uncovering these will constitute the final steps in understanding who you are, as you step into your Third Act.

Beginning with this module, you will find a new section toward the bottom of the page. Digging Deeper - available in Modules Three through Six - provide a fascinating look into the process of creating your life from the inside out. Understanding how your mind works; what is holding you back from creating what you desire; and what to do so that nothing stands in your way is the foundation upon which you will build your Third Act.

Step One:
Your Character Strengths

The VIA Character Strengths Assessment

The VIA Survey of Character Strengths is a simple self-assessment that takes less than 15 minutes and provides a wealth of information to help you understand your core characteristics. Most personality tests focus on negative or neutral traits, but VIA Survey focuses on your best qualities.

More information on VIA Character Strengths

There are two options when it comes to receiving reports on what your strengths are:

  1. VIA Survey Results - is a free survey that provides your rank order list of the 24 strengths.

  2. VIA-ME! Report - gives you a more comprehensive report with details of your signature strengths, and an overview of your middle and lesser strengths. You'll also benefit from activities, quotes, benefit statements and more to help you put your strengths to good use.

Next Step: Define Your Values

Values Assessment

Brene Brown defines values as "a way of being or believing that you hold the most important in your life."

Values are your navigation system for life. Defining and properly calibrate them is one of the most important steps in creating your life from the inside out.

When you define your personal values, you discover what’s truly important to you. A good way to start this process is to look back on your life - to identify when you felt really good, and really confident that you were making good choices.

This series of questions will help you evaluate and refine what is truly important to you and what matters most in life. Answer each question thoughtfully. This process will help you figure out what your top values are.

Please use Values Reference Sheet in the Character Study Workbook (located below) as a reference while going through the Values Assessment.

Next Step: The Workbook

This workbook provides space for you to list your top Character Strengths and Values for easy access. The remainder of the workbook will provide space for you to further deepen your understanding of the components of your perception after you have gone through the presentations in Digging Deeper.

Digging Deeper

Beginning with this module and through the remaining modules of this program you will find a new section. Digging Deeper provides a fascinating look into the process of creating your life, from the inside out. You will gain an understanding of how the mind works; what is holding you back from creating what you desire; and the steps to take so that nothing stands in your way. This is the foundation upon which you will start the process of building your Third Act.
